Coleus resembles nettles in the shape of its leaves, but, unlike the latter, it does not sting at all.
According to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , there are many varieties of coleus, which have a wide variety of colors - from pale green, almost white, to neon colors.
However, in terms of reproduction, it doesn’t matter which species is growing in your flowerbed.
For this purpose, small cuttings are suitable - 2-3 internodes, that is, 7-10 cm for large cuttings and 5-7 cm for small ones.
Make an oblique cut to make the area through which the cutting will receive nutrition as large as possible.
The leaves at the bottom will have to be removed, while the remaining leaves are cut in half - this is necessary so that, thanks to photosynthesis, roots appear in the internodes.
All that remains is to place the cuttings in any suitable container with water and wait for the roots to appear.
Rooting can also be done in washed sifted sand. Fill the container with soil and pour sand on top in a 3-4 cm layer. After the soil is disinfected, place the cuttings in it, muffling the internode slightly above the bud.
