Annual aster is one of the best solutions for a plot if you want to preserve its decorative appearance until the November frosts.

Instead of buying aster seeds every time the season begins, the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh advises collecting the seed material yourself.

We'll tell you when you should start collecting seeds.

The right time comes after complete flowering, when the aster petals wither and fluff appears in the center.

This is the signal after which you can safely begin collecting seeds.

If you put this procedure off until later, the fluff will become more pronounced, and you may not have time to collect the seeds, which will be carried away by the wind or washed away by the rain.

There is another option that you definitely won’t go wrong with – for this, the plant, which contains a large number of seeds ready to ripen, should be pulled out of the ground by the roots.

After this, you should remove the flower stalks that have not yet bloomed, break off the root and hang the asters upside down in a dry, well-ventilated room.

After some time, you will be able to collect the ripened seeds without any problems.
