According to experienced gardeners, anthracnose is a disease that has already caught up with the widely known late blight in terms of its harmfulness.

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke about the signs of the disease and methods of treating potatoes.

A sign of the initial stage of anthracnose is yellowed and dried out tops.

The first symptoms are dark, elongated spots on the lower part of the stem. Over time, these can transform into a slimy mass.

Thus, there are two possible scenarios. The first is when the stem dries out completely, the second is when it is completely covered with mucus.

At this stage, unfortunately, any measures to combat anthracnose will be useless.

It is worth taking care to ensure that the disease does not destroy the harvest at the stage of planting potatoes.

To do this, you will need to treat the potatoes with seed dressings made from fludioxonil.

The next treatment is carried out when the phase from the closure of the tops in the rows to the beginning of budding begins. This time, preparations based on azoxystrobin and difenoconazole will be useful. Important: the treatment must be repeated after 2 weeks.
