Are drafts dangerous for plants, or is this another myth: here is what experienced gardeners think about this

It is believed that being in a draft is dangerous for the vast majority of indoor plants.

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh suggested finding out whether this is really true.

To begin with, it is worth noting that any draft implies a decrease in temperature.

But it is precisely this factor that should not be paid attention to - many plants are cold-loving, while others do not react to temperature changes at all, because this is typical of natural conditions.

The reason is different.

Due to the intense movement of the air flow, the surface of the leaves is deprived of its natural protective layer, while evaporation increases.

As a result, the plant cannot compensate for the loss of moisture in the shortest possible time, which is why the flower slowly (and in some cases quite quickly) fades.

That is why experienced gardeners admonish newcomers to plant growing not to place pots with their green “pets” near the line of constant window ventilation in winter, as well as near air conditioners.
