"Horned" carrots grow because of one popular fertilizer.
An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke about a common mistake.
Many summer residents work hard to take care of their favorite plants. In pursuit of a better harvest, mistakes are often made that only make things worse.
Incorrect fertilization
The specialist noted that carrots are not fed with nitrogen fertilizers. The plant reacts to such a composition in an unusual way.
Nitrogen fertilizers are the cause of carrot fruit deformation.
It also grows “horned” because of a folk remedy – a solution based on ammonia.
What is the best course of action?
Nitrogen fertilizers should be removed from the carrot “diet” and only complex formulations should be used, which, in addition to nitrogen, contain potassium, phosphorus and microelements.
If you feed carrots only with nitrogen fertilizers, the plant will have powerful tops and roots, but they will acquire an unsightly shape.
