Late blight is an insidious disease that every summer resident has probably encountered more than once.

Most often, it attacks the beds where tomatoes are planted, notes the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

Tomatoes that could not be saved from the insidious disease are covered with hard, dark brown spots that quickly become large, wrinkled and look somewhat sunken.

This raises a reasonable question: is it possible to eat fruits that were picked from diseased plants?

Fortunately, late blight is not contagious to humans, so you can eat these tomatoes without fear.

If the signs of late blight on the fruits of tomato bushes are obvious, you can, without a twinge of conscience, cut off the damaged parts with a knife and boldly serve them to the table.

However, it is impossible not to notice: due to the presence of late blight spores, tissues are damaged, as a result of which the acidity of tomatoes decreases.

This, in turn, creates favorable conditions that promote the growth of other potentially harmful microorganisms.
