It is useful for gardeners to adhere to the correct habit: onions for bulbs and green onions are planted separately.
Failure to follow simple rules is one of the reasons for a meager and tasteless harvest.
You must not touch the feathers of the onion planted on the bulb. Each feather corresponds to a certain layer in the onion skin. And if you tear off a feather, the leaf inside the bulb will dry out or not grow.
Dry plates will appear in such an onion, and if all the feathers are cut off, the onion simply will not grow.
When planting onions to obtain greens, give preference to small old onions, which you place in warm water overnight, and in the morning, cut off the stems a little.
After this procedure, the bulbs can be planted in a garden bed or use a pot if you prefer to grow onions on a windowsill.
When planting, place the bulbs in the furrows, but do not press them down too hard so as not to break the roots.
Plant the onion so that the cut remains above the ground by at least 1 cm. In 2-3 days, green feathers will begin to emerge from the cut surface.
In this way, you can plant onions throughout the summer period, as well as at home in winter.
