4 options for feeding carrots, as well as the best periods for their application.
Summer residents who are not used to relying on luck prefer to fertilize carrots in order to harvest large and sweet root vegetables.
When is feeding needed?
According to gardeners, carrots need to be fertilized 4 times per season. But in practice, not everyone follows this rule due to lack of time, because there are many things to do at the dacha even without carrots.
You should feed the vegetable:
- when sowing;
- after emergence;
- 3 weeks after the second feeding;
- no later than 14 days before harvest.
If it is not possible to feed carrots 4 times, summer residents try to do it at least 1-2 times per season.
4 options for feeding
1. Ash. There are two options - dry and liquid. In the first case, 250 g is added per 1 sq. m. If you are preparing liquid fertilizer, then 100 g of ash is taken per 10 liters of water.
2. Iodine (5%). Use 20 drops of the drugstore product per 10 liters of water.
3. Chicken manure. The solution, prepared in a ratio of 1:10, is infused for a day. Then the product is diluted with water in the same proportion and infused for another 24 hours.
4. Weed infusion. Fill a plastic barrel or bucket 2/3 full with grass, then fill it to the top with water. Leave the liquid in the sun for about a week. Dilute the finished solution with water in a ratio of 1:10.
