Many summer residents strive to get rid of moss on the ground, garden paths, greenhouse walls, and around the house.

In some cases it is a question of aesthetics, and in others it is a question of soil quality. Moss retains moisture in the soil, preventing air penetration.

As a result, the root system of plants suffers. There are two strategies for combating this peculiar plant.

For a quick result, use a simple remedy that can be prepared at home. There is a comprehensive approach to solving the problem.

  • copper sulfate – 50 g;
  • water – 10 l.

How to remove moss

1. Pour water into a deep container.

2. Add copper sulfate to it.

3. Mix thoroughly until the copper sulfate is completely dissolved.

4. The resulting solution is used to water all areas where moss grows.

5. The solution must thoroughly wet the plants.

6. After about 5 days, the moss will begin to darken and gradually disappear.

7. After 14 days, repeat the procedure. If the moss has taken root in the area, you may not be able to get rid of it the first time.

Integrated approach

Moss loves areas where water stagnates and where the soil is compacted. Chemicals and rakes are a temporary solution to the problem.

The soil needs to be thoroughly loosened and saturated with oxygen. This is done with a shovel or cultivator. Loams are crushed with sand, but there is no hurry with peat, sawdust and humus.

Green manure also helps solve the problem. Clover, peas, cereals – everything that saturates the soil with oxygen through its roots. In the fall, they are mowed and incorporated into the soil, which also receives nitrogen thanks to this.

Compost prepared exclusively from organic waste is also added. Zucchini and squash grow well on this fertilizer and loam.
