Why you should warm up onion sets before planting: a note for summer residents

In the final month of spring, many summer residents plant onion sets.
Proper pre-treatment of planting material is of great importance.
So, the seed onions need to be kept in salt water and in a solution of potassium permanganate.
Without these procedures, the plant will not acquire protection from dangerous insects and microorganisms.
In addition, the planting material must be warmed up. Unfortunately, not every gardener is aware of the importance of this action.
What is the procedure for?
Preheating reduces the risk of the onion going to bolt.
In other words, the procedure prevents bolting - the appearance of a flower stalk. As a result, the plant will not waste energy on the development of an extra part.
This means that the garden crop harvest will be of high quality.
How to carry out the procedure correctly
The container with onion sets should stand in some warm room for about seven days.
The box can be placed in an apartment if the temperature there is at least +25 degrees.
If the indicator is lower, but the heating has not yet been turned off, then the container should be moved closer to the battery.
