How to Thin Parsley Properly: The Key to Fluffy Greens

Parsley is usually sown with seeds directly into open ground.

If the shoots appear together, which is what every summer resident wants, thinning will be necessary.

Excess shoots are removed like weeds.

It is recommended to thin out parsley twice throughout the season.

The right time for the first thinning is when the seedlings have formed 2-3 leaves. When pulling out excess sprouts, try to make sure that the distance between young bushes is 3 cm.

The second thinning begins when the number of leaves on the plants reaches 7-8 pieces. In this case, the distance is increased to 5-6 cm.

What to do with the “extra” plants left after the procedure?

Experienced gardeners advise not to leave pulled parsley on the beds. But you shouldn't throw it away like garbage either - instead, try to find a useful use for the plants - for example, add them to the compost pit.
