Peonies are loved by all summer residents and flower growers for their unpretentious nature, bright flowering and unsurpassed aroma.
In order for the bush to become a real decoration of the flowerbed in the summer, you will have to work a little and add fertilizer in the spring. We will tell you what and when to feed peonies.
They say that after this feeding there will be many large buds on the bushes.
You shouldn't expect anything special from a plant that was planted last season or even the season before.
Ideally, the bush blooms in the 3rd or 4th year of its life. Until then, you need to continue to care for the plant - water it in a timely manner and apply fertilizers.
The first portion is applied after the snow melts. At this time, nitrogen-potassium additives are applied. One bush requires 15 grams of nitrogen and 20 grams of potassium.
It is introduced during the beginning of budding. In this case, you need to introduce the same amount of nitrogen and 15 grams of potassium and add another 20 grams of phosphorus fertilizers to everything.
It is carried out exactly two weeks later. This is an important moment, because the buds are forming on the plant. Nitrogen is no longer needed at this stage. 20 grams of phosphorus and 15 grams of potassium are added.
It is thanks to the addition of phosphorus that abundant flowering can be achieved, but without nitrogen and potassium it will not be possible to grow lush green mass and go through the budding period.
