Thrifty gardeners are not used to squandering waste such as potato peelings, fruit peels or eggshells.

Thrifty and far-sighted gardeners find a use for everything; nothing is left idle.

Potato peelings help summer residents grow a good harvest without spending a penny on fertilizers.

During the fall and winter, a considerable amount of tubers' peels are collected. Summer residents do not throw them in the trash, but scatter them on the beds.

The earth is dug up and the waste gradually decomposes, saturating the soil with minerals.

Some gardeners especially praise this fertilizer for currants and gooseberries. The peel is scattered under the bushes and dug into the soil. Or they are poured with preparations that accelerate decomposition and covered with a layer of mulch.

Another option for using potato peels: dry, grind, pour into jars and store in a dark place in winter. In spring, scatter along with other fertilizers.
