Additional lighting is a factor that is of paramount importance in the process of growing strong seedlings.
Particular attention should be paid to lighting if the seedlings hatched in February-March, when they will clearly not have enough daylight, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, an agronomist and landscape designer.
Despite the fact that in modern stores for summer residents you can find a whole bunch of backlights of various spectrums, you should not be led by such diversity.
Experienced gardeners are sure that temperature and lighting spectrum are not that important.
Instead, the selection criterion should be intensity, that is, the power of the backlight.
Important: illumination should be provided in one “piece”, without allowing dark breaks for the seedlings.
Rest should be strictly at night, so as soon as you notice that twilight has fallen outside, you should turn on the lamps. You can turn off the lights around 11 at night and turn them on again at 6 in the morning.
Don't forget to put the plants into a dormant phase - it is necessary so that the seedlings can better absorb phosphorus, nitrogen and potassium.
