What to put on the bottom of the hole to protect the plant from ants, snails and slugs: a little garden trick

09.03.2023 11:13

Ants and gastropods pose a serious threat to many plants.

The first pest can attract other insects to the garden bed and "bring" dangerous diseases. In addition, there is a risk of deterioration of the soil cover.

The second pest eats the fruits and leaf blades of many garden crops. Cabbage, potatoes, cucumbers and lettuce are especially vulnerable to slugs and snails.

Fighting unwanted "visitors" to the garden bed is quite a difficult task.

However, the task can be significantly simplified. It is enough to remember that pests are repelled by bright smells.

What to put in the bottom of the hole

When planting a particular garden crop, you should pour some coffee grounds into the dug hole.

The mass remaining in the cup after drinking the invigorating drink gives off a very bright aroma.

Thus, ants will not approach the plant. Gastropods will also exhibit similar behavior.

It is worth noting that coffee grounds will not only act as a pest control agent, but also as a fertilizer. The grounds are a source of potassium, phosphorus and calcium.
