At first glance, all methods for increasing onion yields have long been known.

This includes the application of nitrogen and other fertilizers, timely watering of plants, and protection of garden crops from pests and diseases.

However, there is one more action that will increase the chances of getting a bountiful onion harvest.

Not all gardeners know about the importance of this procedure. And in vain, because it almost always turns out to be effective.

Preliminary procedure

If a gardener wants the garden crop to develop quickly and fully, it is necessary to soak the bulbs in plain water.

It is advisable to carry out the procedure one day before the planned planting.

It is enough to place the onion sets in a container filled with hot water, which does not contain any additives, for 10 minutes.

Other recommendations

You can also achieve high onion yields by following other recommendations.

So, when planting a crop, experienced gardeners act as follows: they generously water the bed where they plan to grow the plant.

The soil cover should be soaked with water so deeply that the onion is completely located in moist soil.

There is another trick: it is advisable to plant onions together with carrots. The proximity of a representative of the amaryllis family with a root crop promotes mutual protection of garden crops from diseases and pests.
