You may not see any sprouts: what kind of container should you not plant seeds in?

Hobby gardeners experiment with containers for growing seedlings, but not all options are good.

Some summer residents use not only sour cream jars or purchased flowerpots for seedlings.

But they also resort to such non-standard options as eggshells, egg trays and even citrus peels.

The last option is not suitable for seedlings. Experienced gardeners are skeptical about the possibility of growing something in an improvised container made from citrus peel.

It looks unusual, beautiful and environmentally friendly, but there will be no lush shoots. Moreover, the peel can destroy the seeds.

Citrus fruits release substances that slow down plant development. The method does not work even from the standpoint of additional feeding - the peel takes a long time to rot even in compost.

Experienced gardeners have indicated that it is possible to try for experimental purposes, but one should not hope for impressive results. If each seed is expensive, it is better to trust proven methods.
