Sciarids, also known as fungus gnats, often infest the soil of indoor plants.

Insect larvae love to feast on the roots of young plants. Pests can easily cause the death of a flower.

Fungus gnats can be in the soil of a purchased plant or fly in from the street. You can get rid of larvae and mosquitoes without special means and as economically as possible.

For this you will need matches. Several of them need to be stuck into the soil with their heads down. They are placed in a circle, leaving a distance to the edge of the pot.

The sulfur heads of the matches will decompose over time, releasing substances that are dangerous to the larvae. Mosquitoes will not leave their offspring in a pot studded with matches.

There is no harm to the soil and flowers, but sciarids are afraid of these substances. Every few days the matches should be changed until the insects disappear completely.
