If you have taken care to add all the necessary fertilizers to the soil before planting currants, the plant can easily exist without additional feeding for a long time - several years.

But in the case where fertilizers were applied only to the planting hole, the expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh advises feeding currant bushes twice per season.

Plants especially need nutrition when ovaries appear and after fruiting.

It is important to remember that fertilizers are not applied to the center of the bush, but to the furrows formed around it.

Phosphorus-potassium fertilizers are the best choice for feeding currants.

To do this, each bush will have to be watered with a solution of superphosphate and potassium sulfate, for the preparation of which it is necessary to dilute a tablespoon of each preparation in 10 liters of water.

By the way, during the rainy season, experienced gardeners recommend applying fertilizers in dry form.

Those who do not respect mineral compositions should use ordinary ash - it is enough to sprinkle the soil under the bush (500 g of ash will be needed for one bush), and then distribute the remains of burning wood further from the center of the bush by 20-25 cm.
