Not everyone manages to grow the very first spring vegetable, which is radish, without problems, although this crop is unpretentious.

A certain agricultural talent and experience is still needed, otherwise the vegetable risks bolting or growing dry and gnarled, but with lush and curly tops.

By the way, gardeners claim that these tops are not much inferior to root vegetables in nutritional properties. However, for those who are used to eating ruddy fruits, and not juicy greens, it will be useful to know two important things.

First: sowing time

This is the most important thing, because hard and bitter radishes grow precisely in the gardens of careless summer residents. You can start already 7-10 days after the snow melts. There is no point in doing it earlier.

Second: feeding

Acidic soil is the main enemy of fruit and vegetable crops. If the soil is acidic, add wood ash and humus in the fall. Mineral fertilizers must be applied strictly in accordance with the dosage.

After this, no other actions are required except watering.

In detail, the process of growing radishes looks like this:

1) prepare the soil - dig it up, remove stones, weeds and other debris;

2) leave the bed for a couple of days, many people cover it with agrofibre so that the soil warms up and does not dry out;

3) then make furrows for sowing seeds (no more than 1 cm deep), compacting the soil so that the sprouts go up;

4) leave a gap of 1.5-2 cm between seeds.

After this, all that remains is to monitor the seedlings, thin out the plantings if necessary, and loosen the soil between the rows.
