Use these proven and effective methods to combat the fungal plant disease, late blight.

Garlic infusion

Add 200 grams of garlic cloves minced in a meat grinder to 10 liters of water and leave to infuse for 2-3 days.

Before use, add 20-30 ml of liquid soap or dissolved shavings of laundry soap, stir, strain the solution and treat garden crops once every two weeks.

Coniferous concentrate and potassium permanganate

At the end of July, the first signs of late blight may appear on tomato bushes.
A solution of pine concentrate will help get rid of this infection, add 1 tablespoon of the solution to 10 liters of water. Or you can prepare a decoction of pine needles: pour 1 liter of pine needles into 0.5 liters of water, boil for 5 minutes, cool and strain.

A solution of potassium permanganate of a light pink color has a good effect against rot. It is used at least five times per season.

Kefir or sour milk

To prevent late blight, spray tomato bushes with sour kefir, after two weeks, plant the tomato seedlings in the garden bed.

Take 1 liter of kefir and dilute it in 10 liters of water, leave for 2-3 days to ferment. Treat the bushes of garden crops once a week.

Whey

Other lactic acid products have a similar effect, for example, dilute 1 liter of whey in 5 liters of water. Treat the plants with this solution every other day. Place rotted hay mixed with rotted chicken manure between the rows.

Kombucha

Kombucha contains lactic acid bacteria, which overcome pathogens such as powdery mildew and late blight.

To prepare the solution, take 50 grams of green and black tea leaves each, pour into a metal container, add 0.5 cups of sugar, pour 5 liters of water over everything and boil for 10-15 minutes.

When the solution has cooled, strain it, add a piece of kombucha and cover with a napkin.

Leave it to infuse in the shade for 15 days. Before use, strain the infusion, add water to 10 liters and treat the garden crops, 5-6 liters of infusion are needed per 100 square meters.

Wood ash infusion

From time to time, treat vegetable bushes with a solution of wood ash infusion: 200-300 grams of ash and 20-25 ml of liquid soap per 10 liters of water.

Ash treatment

June-July is the time for regular application of wood ash to the greenhouse and hothouse. It is used not only to protect nightshade and other plants from late blight, but also as a balanced organic fertilizer. Sprinkle dry ash over the plants from top to bottom, the walls of the greenhouse and the ground once every 3-5 days.

Non-woven material

To protect tomatoes from late blight, cover them in the evening and during rainy weather with agrofibre, spunbond or lutrasil.
Excessive moisture can create conditions for fungal infection of plants. For this reason, they need to be protected from excess precipitation.
