Among the folk advice on how to increase the yield of fruit crops in the garden and orchard, there is room for the most unheard of things.

However, whether yeast, nails or other scrap metal can fill up your garden storage at the end of the season can only be tested by letting the time pass. This is what is best not to experiment with.

1. Yeast and the Nitrogen Myth

Yeast fungi feed on sugar and as a result of their vital activity form alcohol and carbon dioxide. It is impossible to increase the nitrogen level in the soil in this way.

2. The myth about the amount of fertilizers and the quality of the harvest

Nutrient deficiencies cannot be compensated for by adding more fertilizer to the soil than required. There will be no result if the pH balance of the soil is not checked before adding fertilizer. Much also depends on the weather and the time of adding the additives. And overdosing can cause root burns.

3. Fifi about nails and scrap metal

This topic is often touched upon when apple trees have low yields. Some advise hammering a copper nail into the tree, others burying metal objects in the trunk area. However, only those who follow basic agricultural practices – whitewashing, pruning, processing, fertilizing, etc. – will truly produce good fruit.

4. Used tea

In fact, dried tea leaves can serve, perhaps, only as mulch, but not as a source of nutrients and microelements. If desired, tea leaves can be used for compost.

5. The myth about manure

Manure has long been considered not the best way to increase soil productivity. It often leads to the growth of weeds and the appearance of insect pests. In addition, its incorporation into the soil is hard physical labor.
