Marigolds are flowers that can be called ideal "neighbors" for cherries.

A member of the Asteraceae family, placed next to a cherry tree, increases the chances of producing a large number of fruits.

And this phenomenon is explained very simply: marigolds act as the “savior” of the cherry, as they protect the plant from a dangerous pest.

We are talking about the cherry fly. Or, to be more precise, about its larvae.

Why is the cherry fly dangerous?

The pest poses a huge danger to the plant's fruits.

So, the larvae eat the pulp and thus spoil the cherry fruits. The process of rotting begins.

If a pest “attacks” a cherry tree, you can lose almost the entire harvest.

Where exactly to plant marigolds

To reduce the risk of dangerous insects appearing, you need to plant marigolds near the cherry tree.

It is desirable that the location of the flowers be the tree trunk circle.

It is worth emphasizing that marigolds do not provide a 100% guarantee of protecting cherries from dangerous pests.

However, the presence of flowers near a tree or bush will reduce the likelihood of an “attack” by an insect.
