Therefore, in the southern Russian regions, vegetable growers manage to harvest this cabbage twice a season, planting Chinese cabbage seeds in the first ten days of April and in the last ten days of August.
In Siberian regions, Chinese cabbage seeds should be planted in early May or late July.
Selecting a site for planting
Incorrect selection of a site for planting this vegetable crop is another reason why the Peking cabbage will give poor harvests. The fact is that this crop does not tolerate direct sunlight, so it will not give a good harvest in illuminated areas.
It is best planted in light partial shade and protected from gusts of cold wind.
Improper care
This type of cabbage is demanding in terms of care. The main thing is not to forget about watering. You need to water your Peking cabbage once every 6-8 days in the morning or evening with settled warm water. At the same time, the volume of moisture introduced should not be too large, since Peking cabbage also does not tolerate stagnant moisture.
After watering, the root zone of each bush should be loosened and a layer of mulch should be added there. Do not forget to remove all weeds along with the roots. After transplanting the Peking cabbage seedlings to a permanent place, the first loosening should be done approximately three weeks later, when the cabbage has acclimatized and has already started to grow.
Incorrect application of fertilizers
The main thing when applying fertilizers to this type of cabbage is not to overdo it with top dressing or not to apply too little. Depending on the planting period of this salad, top dressing is applied two or three times.
It is necessary to alternate mineral fertilizers containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium with organic matter - a solution of bird droppings or manure, compost, peat, wood ash.
If you choose the right place to plant the Peking cabbage and follow all the rules of care, then in a month or two you can collect large crispy heads of this cabbage variety.
