Why raspberries dry out: two main reasons

If you are faced with such a problem as drying out raspberries, to solve it you should find out what caused this unpleasant phenomenon.

An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh named two reasons why raspberry leaves can wither and shoots can dry out.

First of all, it is worth noting that shoot burns can be caused by an excess of fertilizers.

If you decide to feed raspberry bushes, stick to the following proportions of phosphorus, nitrogen and potassium: 10x10x10.

Watering will help to correct the situation - you will need to pour 3 buckets of water under each bush. This should be done gradually, checking every hour how the previously poured water has been absorbed.

It is worth noting that incorrect calculation of feeding is not as common as another problem - tinker.

This pest is also known as the "reed hawk moth". Bushes where the parasite has settled begin to dry out, bend to the ground, and the leaves turn brown and dry out.

The tinker is active from the end of June to the beginning of July, but can also be “vigorously active” at the end of August.

You can tell that a harmful insect has appeared in your raspberry patch by a clear sign such as two rings on the stem, as if pierced by a needle at a distance of 1 cm from each other.

To get rid of the hawk moth, you will have to cut off the withered stems, stepping back 15 cm from the ring, and burn them.
