Some plants are able to protect others from diseases and pests.

Mixed plantings are considered one of the effective ways to combat pests. Combining different types of plants in one area will help confuse insects.

What flowers to plant on the plot

Most plants that have a protective effect have a strong smell, which pests are so afraid of.

Nasturtium

The plant will protect plantings from cabbage white butterfly, and in a greenhouse – from whitefly. Nasturtium will help flowers that are susceptible to fungal diseases. Pests will not get to fruit trees if nasturtium grows nearby.

Marigold

Flowers can repel nematodes that destroy strawberry beds.

The aroma of marigolds is intolerable to many insects that raid berry bushes and fruit trees.

Marigolds can be planted anywhere: they will decorate the garden and protect the future harvest.

Pelargonium

The specific smell of the plant will drive away insect pests of vegetable and berry crops.

Geranium will not allow aphids, cabbage whites, leafhoppers, and cutworms to feel comfortable in the area.

Black elderberry

It will help protect the berry garden and beds from pests. Freshly cut elderberry branches can be placed in jars with water and left between beds and bushes. Elderberry is effective against mice.
