Any cultivated plant needs feeding, and beets are no exception.
Large, juicy and even root vegetables are harvested only by those summer residents who begin caring for beets at the earliest stages.
As soon as the beetroot shows its first leaves, you can prepare the first feeding. The procedure will not take much time, but it will all pay off when it is time to harvest.
The season begins with organic fertilizers. They are applied when the seedlings have 3-4 leaves. There is no strictly single option for feeding in this case.
The summer resident can choose any of three:
1. Bird droppings mixed with water in a ratio of 1:15.
2. Urea solution (1 tbsp. per 10 l of water).
3. Mullein diluted with water in a ratio of 1:10.
These fertilizers are rich in nitrogen. This macroelement is important for beets only at an early stage of development.
In the future, summer residents focus on phosphorus and potassium. These macroelements are responsible for the characteristics of the root crop itself.
