Every summer resident’s dream is to plan their garden so that there are clean passages between the beds without dirt and weeds.

Many people face a situation where it is impossible to enter the garden without boots. However, there is a simple way to solve the problem so that the area is always clean.

How to get rid of grass in the garden

This can be helped by covering the surface of the soil with mulch – mulching. Agrofibre or geotextiles are often used. But such materials are not cheap. If the plot is large, you can end up with a lot of money. But there is a way out, and affordable natural materials will help.

Straw

First of all, use straw from your field. Straw can be used to mulch both the paths between the beds and the plantings. This is an excellent protection against weeds, natural mulch will retain moisture for a long time.

For mulching, you need a layer of straw at least 15 cm thick. Then weeds will not grow, and there will be reliable protection from the rain.

Hay

Unlike straw, hay decomposes faster. And in the summer, when the soil is warm, microorganisms quickly process it, so the hay will have to be covered several times: at the end of spring and in the second half of summer.

Hay treated with herbicides should not be used.

In addition, sawdust and wood chips can be used as mulch.
