What you shouldn't feed orchids: they will turn into dry sticks without leaves and flowers

In the process of caring for an exotic plant, flower growers begin to stuff it with all sorts of fertilizers and exhaust it with watering.

As a result, instead of a gorgeously blooming orchid, there is a puny stem with sparse leaves sitting in the pot.

The reason lies in the non-obvious mistakes that gardeners make. Among them is improper fertilizing.

Coffee grounds

Many people use coffee grounds as plant food. However, the substrate in which the orchid grows is not able to "process" the coffee grounds, breaking them down into a form convenient for the flower to digest.

The grounds can block the water from reaching the roots and the plant will suffer.

Universal fertilizers

Plants that grow in normal soil have essentially similar nutritional needs. Universal fertilizers have been developed for them.

An orchid is a capricious and unusual flower, which can be destroyed by inappropriate feeding.

Avoid using nitrogen, mullein, manure, dung, and concentrated herbal infusions as fertilizers.
