Usually tomatoes are planted in greenhouses, but in open ground the vegetable also produces a good harvest.

Even if you didn't manage to plant everything in the greenhouse, don't despair. We'll tell you how to harvest a rich tomato crop.

1. Hilling

Beginner gardeners believe that only potatoes can be hilled. This procedure helps tomatoes to develop a powerful root system. As a result, the fruits begin to ripen more actively. Earthworks are carried out on the 10-11th day after planting in the ground, and are repeated after 20-25 days from the date of the first hilling.

2. Pinching out stepsons

Remove the side shoots and then you can expect that the main forces of the plant will go to the formation of fruits, and not to the growth of tops. Cut off the lower shoots and those growing under the brushes. In the same way, deal with excess flower brushes.

3. Top dressing

The first feeding is carried out 2 weeks after transplanting the seedlings into open ground (cow dung solution 1:10 or chicken manure 1:20). Then you can add nitrophoska (60 grams per 10 liters of water). The interval is once every 10 days. You can add ash, yeast solutions and other folk recipes are used.

4. Watering

The first watering after transplantation is carried out after 10-14 days. In June, the interval between waterings is once every 7 days, and in July already 2-3 times a week, but taking into account the weather.

5. Spraying

To develop the bush, stimulate the formation of new growth points, and set fruit, spraying is carried out. Bordeaux mixture, onion infusion, and boric acid are used.

By following these simple recommendations, increasing the yield of tomatoes in open ground will not be difficult.
