What the mole cricket can boast of is its excellent appetite.

According to the expert of the online publication Belnovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , this pest eats literally everything in its path – other insects, plant roots, young shoots, root crops, etc.

There are countless ways to combat the mole cricket, including both folk remedies and chemical preparations.

But don't celebrate too early if you've managed to say goodbye to the parasite.

There is always a chance that the mole cricket, attracted by organic fertilizers, a pile of manure, compost and constantly wet soil, will return to your beds.

To prevent the pest from getting back into the garden, place alder or bird cherry twigs around its perimeter, burying them 30 cm into the soil.

As an option, try to deepen the perimeter of the area with boards, slate or mosquito netting. Since the mole cricket lives in the upper layer of soil, the obstacle will force it to retreat.

Don't forget about the benefits of plants such as marigolds, calendula or chrysanthemum - their smell can repel insects.
