Tulip bulbs are usually planted in the fall, but no one forbids doing this in the spring either.

In order for flowers to bloom on time, you need to prepare for planting. We will tell you about the timing of this procedure and the advantages of spring planting.

In addition to the fact that the bulbs need to be etched in potassium permanganate, you also need to pay attention to the following points.

Planting time

Prepared bulbs are buried in the ground in mid-March or in the second half of the month. You can pre-plant them in a container at home and keep them there until the end of April. In this case, you can transplant the plant until the end of June.

The advantage of spring planting is a wider choice of period for transplantation, but as already mentioned, no later than the end of June.

How to prepare bulbs

Tulip bulbs need to be kept in the cold for 1-1.5 months, otherwise the shoots may not appear at all.

In addition, it is necessary to remove hard scales where pests, damage or areas affected by infections may be located.

Next, the seed material is placed in a solution of potassium permanganate (1%) for 20-30 minutes and planted in the soil.

If you choose a place on the site, it should be a sunlit area, and the soil should be loose and fertile.

It’s good if you managed to fertilize it with humus or compost (up to 5 kg per square meter) before planting.
