What to do to prevent pests from attacking indoor flowers: simple advice

Dealing with houseplant pests has never been easy or simple for gardeners.

Usually, with good care, plants do not get sick. However, no flower is immune from pest damage.

If you do not fight insects that attack houseplants, their growth may slow down, they will lose their attractiveness and may die.

How to protect plants from pests

First of all, do not forget about prevention. Plants are regularly inspected, especially leaves on both sides, the soil is checked.

Plants need to be kept clean and showered regularly. Preventive treatment of flowers with biological agents will be required.

There are many ways for plants to become infected and it is almost impossible to foresee everything, so it is better to prepare for pest control and know how to get rid of them quickly.

Among the available means are laundry soap or dishwashing liquid, pet shampoo.

To combat mealybugs and scale insects, prepare a soap solution: 1 teaspoon of grated laundry soap per 1 liter of water and apply the solution.

A solution will help get rid of spider mites: dissolve a little dishwashing liquid or soap in clean water and whip up a thick foam. Cover the soil in the pot with plastic, treat the above-ground part of the plant, wait 30 minutes, rinse with water.

The following solution will help to remove thrips: dilute a pet shampoo against ticks containing permethrin in a small amount of water until a thick foam forms. Apply the product to the stems and leaves, wash off after 35 minutes.
