Where pests overwinter: remember these places and don’t wait for spring

It has long been known that insect pests and those that cause harm to fruit and berry garden crops prefer to hide nearby.

In the spring they wake up and, without wasting energy on searching for food, they get down to their business - to harm and reproduce. They are no longer capable of anything else.

We will tell you what places in the garden they choose for overnight stays and whether it is worth waiting for spring warmth to launch a preemptive strike.

First, the bark of trees

This is a home for larvae, beetles, mites and other insects. In the spring they will wake up and head straight for the swelling buds. You can fight this by whitewashing the tree trunks in a timely manner, and not with simple paint, but with a special garden composition containing substances that are harmful to insects. Moreover, it is not necessary to whitewash in the spring warmth - you can do it in February, as soon as the weather is right. Nobody has canceled trapping belts either.

Secondly, fallen leaves

Hawthorn moth, apple mite, goldtail, geometer moth and other insects can overwinter on the ground, in last year's garbage and other shoots. If this garbage is covered with snow, then nothing can be done. You will have to wait for warming. But it is precisely because of pests that many summer residents remove the remains of vegetation in the fall in the garden.

Thirdly, in the soil

Various fleas, flower beetles, fireworms and ticks take shelter in the soil for the winter. That is why it is so important when treating fruit trees not to limit yourself to spraying the trunks and branches, but also to walk with the solution on the soil cleared of last year's grass and other debris.
