How to care for garlic in June: what you need to do to have a big harvest
At the beginning of June, the heads of garlic planted in the fall begin to form.
During this period, it needs special care and feeding.
Important rules for caring for garlic
The first rule is proper and competent watering of the garlic beds.
It likes watering, but only under appropriate conditions.
If it's hot, water the soil under the garlic twice a week, or maybe more often.
Then, until the end of June, reduce watering to once every 7 days, and do not water at all two weeks before harvest.
Fertilizing garlic is very important. It does not need nitrogen at the beginning of growth.
From the middle of the month, feed with mono-fertilizer. To do this, water the beds, dissolving 1 tablespoon of potassium sulfate in 10 liters of water.
A very important procedure is removing the arrows on the garlic.
When the height of the shoots is 10-15 cm, before they begin to curl, break them off, leaving 2-3 cm so that they do not grow further and cannot form flowers.
Do not water the garlic beds for the first 3 days to prevent infection from settling in the cut wounds.
