Not all summer residents plant basil on their “hundred square meters” for fear that they will not get a harvest from this capricious crop.

An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told what should be done to ensure that the crop does not lag behind in growth.

So, if you want to enjoy juicy and aromatic greens, you should provide the basil with enough sunlight and warmth.

Make sure you have the right soil – it should be light, neutral and definitely warm. It wouldn’t hurt to use polyethylene to cover the plantings at first.

Don't forget about timely watering. By the way, for these purposes it is worth using only settled water.

Of course, you won’t be able to get a good harvest if you ignore the application of fertilizers.

Organic fertilizers are suitable for these purposes, including vermihumate, biohumus, and universal vermigrunt.

If you don’t want to go to the store, use manure or compost, and you can add urea to the water for irrigation.

Finally, ash powder will also do the trick. An additional benefit of using wood burning residue as a fertilizer is that ash can also repel many pests.
