If you bought a discounted orchid, and it has damaged and rotten roots, and few or no flowers, then to revive it you need to transplant it into a different soil instead of the usual one. This will help the plant to put out new roots and flowers.

A temporary substitute for regular soil can be expanded polystyrene. Use disposable food containers made from this material, which need to be crushed.

Remove damaged roots from the orchid, except for green and yellow ones. Place the plant in a glass vase, fill it with prepared pieces of crushed container and fill it with water to the very top. Holding polystyrene with your hands, put a weight on it and leave it for half an hour.

Drain the water, but not completely, leave about 2-3 fingers. Maintain the water at this level.

Once the water has evaporated, repeat the same - fill with water for half an hour and drain off the excess water.

Since polystyrene absorbs water, moisture is constantly maintained in the plant roots, which stimulates their growth. A transparent vase allows sunlight to enter.

If you decide to trim the orchid itself, the cut must be treated with ground cinnamon to prevent the flower stalk from drying out.

The plant will come to life, new roots and flowers will appear in 1.5-2 months. After that, transplant it into the usual soil for growing orchids.
