There is nothing complicated about growing garlic, but some gardeners dig up heads the size of a fist, while others pull out fruits smaller than a plum.

The secret lies in one trick that experienced gardeners repeat year after year. They grow garlic the size of an apple without much effort.

How to improve your harvest

The secret is not in feeding and special watering. It's all about a simple trick. The trick is tying long green leaves into knots.

At first glance, it may seem like a pointless job. But it turns out that this way, gardeners redirect all the plant's resources to the root.

Normally, nutrients go up. They are spent on the shoots, which will eventually turn into a spherical inflorescence.

By tying the leaves, gardeners increase the size of the fruits by at least 30-40%. In addition, the heads will be stored longer, until the next harvest.

The climbing shoots are cut off and then after a couple of weeks the leaves are tied. This trick is done approximately 5-7 days before harvesting.

The exception is plants that are intended to produce seeds. In this case, nothing is cut or tied.
