Gardeners are accustomed to the fact that potatoes need to be treated first of all against Colorado beetles, completely forgetting that the crop is prone to diseases.

And if the beetles, no matter how much you poison them, do not go away, perhaps they will only leave you alone for a while, then diseases can still be resisted.

First processing

It is carried out before planting potatoes to protect tubers from pests (wireworms) and diseases. Most often, potassium permanganate is used, less often industrial preparations. It is possible to prevent the development of late blight or scab. Among industrial products, trust has been earned by "Maxim", "Kagatnik", "Fitosporin-M".

The treatment is carried out 7 days before planting the tubers.

Second treatment

It is carried out during planting. Industrial preparations such as "Terradox", "Provotoks", "Rubezh" and their analogues are used to protect the late harvest. The biopesticide "Metarizin" is used to protect early potatoes.

From folk remedies, garlic infusion is used (1 kg of crushed garlic per bucket of water). Let it brew and spray the tubers 2-3 hours before planting. Then you can sprinkle the wet potatoes in dry ash and plant.

Third treatment

It is carried out during the period of emergence of seedlings, to combat mole crickets and wireworms, and from diseases against late blight and fusarium wilt.

The drug "Aktara" or similar products are used against wireworms; from folk remedies, baits made from tubers are recommended, which are specially left in the soil and changed every 3-4 days.

An infusion of onion peel (800 g per 10 l of hot water, and leave for 4 days) or calcium carbide, which is poured into the holes in dry form, helps against the bear.

Diseases of this period can be prevented by using Bordeaux mixture or Abiga-Peak.

From folk remedies, prepare a solution based on 1 liter of skim milk and 15 drops of iodine for spraying, repeat after 2 weeks.

As for the fight against the Colorado potato beetle, it most often does not stop throughout the season and is carried out in a variety of ways.
