To obtain seedlings from small seeds, many gardeners use peat tablets.

However, this remedy has several disadvantages, which were discussed by the expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

Firstly, peat tends to dry out quickly, which, of course, can lead to the death of fragile seedlings.

In this regard, the vegetable grower should carefully monitor the humidity of the substrate and not forget to add water.

Secondly, the tablets cool faster than the soil.

That is why a cool windowsill is not the best place for seedlings in peat tablets. The responsibility for insulating the windowsill and controlling the temperature regime again falls on the farmer's shoulders.

Fortunately, these two significant disadvantages can be neutralized with the help of a little trick.

To protect the tablets from drying out and getting too cold, and the seedlings from wilting and dying, you should first sow the seeds in the usual way, and then prepare one spacious container for the tablets.

Pour perlite into the bottom, place peat tablets on top, and fill the space between them with regular universal soil so that only the tops of the tablets stick out.
