If for some reason you are unable to alternate crops on your plot and have to grow potatoes every year in the same place, you should be prepared for unpleasant consequences.

According to the expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , these include a large number of insect pests, as well as pathogens of various diseases and poor soil.

Fortunately, these negative phenomena can be minimized if you follow simple rules.

1. Mow and remove potato tops from the beds at least 1-3 weeks before harvesting.

2. After the tubers that are planned to be used as seed material next season are dug up, treat them with preparations that contain hay bacillus. This should be done before storing them so that they have time to dry out by that time.

3. If possible, water the beds where the potatoes grew with preparations based on Trichoderma.

4. Don't forget about green manure - in areas where there is no crop rotation, it is worth sowing green manure twice a year. Mustard, lupine, vetch, flax, peas and oats are the best for potatoes.

5. You can reduce the number of weeds next season by slightly loosening the soil (no more than 10 cm). After a couple of weeks, plow the area.
