After winter, the garlic plantings are still very weak, even though the area was well prepared in the fall.
Therefore, during this period it is advisable to feed it so as not to lose the future garlic harvest.
At the first shoots, feed it with nitrogen fertilizer. To do this, sprinkle 1 tablespoon of urea per 1 square meter on the damp soil.
Then, using a narrow hoe, carefully mix and cover the granules of this fertilizer with soil.
Spring precipitation will quickly dissolve it and the plants will receive nitrogen, which is so necessary during this period. This will give a good increase in green mass of garlic, and later large heads.
You can replace urea with ammonium nitrate, mullein infusion, bird infusion or biohumus. Or use nitrophoska, which has enough nitrogen.
Don't forget to loosen the soil on the plot. It must not be compacted, because the earth must be saturated with oxygen.
After the green feathers of garlic grow to a height of 10-12 cm, feed it with wood ash. Rake away some soil above the plant so that the cloves are visible, sprinkle them with ash, then return the soil to its place.
Ash contains potassium and various microelements that deoxidize the soil and protect garlic from fungal infections.
