Gardeners say that caring for remontant raspberries differs from regular ones not only in pruning, but also in fertilizing.

This is due to the peculiarities of fruiting, which differ significantly from ordinary raspberries. The remontant variety requires intensive nutrition throughout the entire growing season.

We will tell you how to feed this crop in the spring using mineral and organic fertilizers.

When to feed

Additives are added after the snow melts. When the temperature rises above zero, you need to start the main raspberry care activities:

  • remove any remaining old leaves and weeds;
  • loosen the soil to a depth of 8 cm (in rows) and 15 cm (between rows);
  • apply fertilizer.

Mineral fertilizers

Before the soil has completely thawed, you can scatter granulated mineral fertilizers over the loosened soil. But this is not enough.

To ensure two harvests, you also need to add nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

First, urea (15-20 g per 10 l of water) or ammonium nitrate (25-30 g per 10 l of water) is added. This can only be done in early spring.

On depleted soil, raspberries are fed with a special solution:

  • urea - 30 g;
  • superphosphate - 60 g;
  • potassium salt - 40 g;
  • water - 10 l.

Organic fertilizers

In this regard, chicken manure, mullein, wood ash, and green fertilizers are actively used.

Chicken manure. The solution is prepared in warm water in a ratio of 1:20, infused for 24 hours, used for root feeding at the rate of 4-5 liters of infusion per square meter of soil.

Potassium and phosphorus can be replenished by adding wood ash in dry form or as a solution (1 glass per 1 square meter, or the same amount of ash per bucket of warm water).

Important! Mineral fertilizing is stopped 3 weeks before the first harvest.
