What spices can and should be used in the country: 3 natural insecticides

When gardeners talk about fighting insect pests, many try to avoid using chemicals – insecticides.

Not all industrial developments are beneficial for soil and plants. And the most offensive thing is that many insects successfully get used to poisons.

We'll tell you which spices make sense to keep in stock at your dacha.

Mustard

1. Effective against the Colorado potato beetle. The solution is prepared from 200 g of powder per 10 l of water, infused for 3 hours, filtered, 5 tbsp. of 9% vinegar and 50 g of liquid laundry soap are added, after which spraying begins. Effective when processed once a week.

2. Effective against slugs and snails – can be applied dry.

3. To combat wireworms, add powder to the hole when planting seedlings.

4. To combat onion and carrot flies, mix mustard 1:3 and add the mixture when planting.

5. To combat cabbage whites and moths, dissolve a glass of mustard and tobacco dust in 10 liters of water, leave for 3 days, strain and treat seedlings and soil once every 10 days.

6. To combat beet flea beetles, dissolve ½ cup of mustard in 10 liters of water, let it sit for 5 hours, and water the plants. To combat cruciferous flea beetles, add 1 tbsp. of 70% acetic acid to the same infusion. Use for spraying.

7. Against aphids and other fruit pests, dilute 50 g of mustard in 5 liters of water and leave for 2 days, add 5 liters of water, 30-35 g of soda, 20 g of soap and spray before flowering.

Hot pepper

Effective against slugs, aphids, cabbage moths, moths, whiteflies, thrips, against eggs and larvae of pests.

Mix 100 g of hot pepper, pour 1 liter of water, boil for 1 hour, let it brew for 2 days, strain. Dilute 100 ml of concentrate in 10 liters of water and spray the plants.

Turmeric

The oriental spice will protect cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, strawberries, gooseberries, raspberries and currants from a number of diseases such as anthracnose, fusarium, late blight, gray mold, etc.

To do this, mix 10 g of turmeric and a pinch of black pepper in 200 ml of vodka and leave for 24 hours in a dark place at room temperature. Then dilute 2 tbsp of concentrate in 5 l of water and add 500-700 ml of whey. Use for spraying once every 7-10 days.
