For everyone who has decided to grow the first cucumber harvest for the first spring holiday – March 8, and even on the windowsill, it’s time to start preparing.
Even if 10-15 years ago it was almost impossible, now any savvy gardener can have fun with vegetables. We will tell you how.
It is important to remember that nothing will work without additional lighting, the right microclimate, and seeds of the right variety.
The capacity for sowing cucumbers on the windowsill should be at least five liters in volume. The soil is nutritious - a mixture of earth, humus and peat.
To germinate seeds, you need to create comfortable conditions of +20 degrees and protection from drafts, plus humid air.
You will have to choose among self-pollinating varieties, as well as those resistant to temperature changes - Shchedrik or Khrustik, or hybrids Emelya or Masha.
You need to start now. And it would be even better to plant before the New Year and then at least 3-4 cucumbers can grow on one bush in March.
1. Before sowing, water the soil with hot water and sow the prepared seeds, leaving them in a room with a temperature of at least 24-25 degrees. Just not on heating devices - they will dry out.
2. When the shoots appear, the container is placed on a sunny windowsill, protected from drafts.
3. Watering is carried out with water at a temperature of 30-32 degrees.
4. It is necessary to carefully monitor the soil temperature. We must use additional lighting (12-15 hours), and add fertilizers as with normal cultivation.
By following all these simple tips, you can get your first harvest of fresh cucumbers in early March.
