Orchids often cause a lot of trouble for gardeners: sometimes there are problems with the roots, sometimes the buds fall off, sometimes the leaves become covered with sticky drops.

Transparent sticky drops on an orchid do not always indicate that the flower needs help. It could be nectar.

In other cases, the plant needs urgent help. Drops indicate an attack by pests and the presence of pathogens of fungal diseases.

You need to examine the orchid carefully. You may be able to spot small white bugs, translucent worms or larvae.

The first thing you need to do is to remove the orchid away from other plants – to organize a kind of quarantine zone.

Then you need to collect all the pests mechanically, clean the shoots and process them.

If there are no pests, but spots or powdery mildew have appeared, the orchid should be sprayed with a fungicide. In addition, the humidity in the room should be reduced and watering should be limited for a while.

If there are no pests or diseases, the cause may be excess moisture in the air or soil. This situation does not bode well. This is where fungal diseases begin, so you need to reduce the humidity and wash off the sticky drops on the leaves with a soft cloth.
