5 ways to store spring garlic: it will definitely not go to waste

When it comes to preserving spring garlic, several factors play an important role: timely planting, proper care and, of course, storage method.

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh shared the top five methods most in demand among summer residents, which allow them not to worry about the safety of the spring garlic harvest.

In the ground

Let us remind you: before storing garlic, it needs to be dried thoroughly, after which it should be placed in a plastic bag, tied and left in a hole 35-40 cm deep. The garlic should be covered with a layer of sawdust on top, after which it should be covered with earth.

In a cloth bag

In this case, you will need to have a bag made of thick fabric. You need to put the garlic in it, tie it up and leave it for storage, hanging it in the space between the wooden window frames.

In the braid

As the name suggests, this method involves braiding garlic into a plait. This garlic "braid" should be stored by hanging it in a dry, cool room.

In salt

You need to find a box – it can be made of glass or plastic. Place the garlic in it and sprinkle with salt, then take the container to a place where it is cold, but not too cold – the acceptable temperature is 3-5 degrees. A cellar ideally meets these requirements.

In sawdust

To store garlic, you can place it in a cardboard box and fill the box with sawdust.
