The key to successful work of any company is a close-knit team.
Confrontation and disunity negatively impact the overall performance and efficiency of employees.
It may not be easy for a newcomer to fit into an already established work environment and find his or her rightful place.
It is important to remember that collective work only produces results when each member contributes their share to solving the common task. Mutual understanding and mutual assistance are essential here.
There is a division into roles in the team. Having decided on a role, it will be easier for a newcomer to take a place in the team.
Most of the roles are:
1. Performers, as a rule, have a good understanding of the assigned issue, diligently complete assigned tasks and can find an approach to other team members.
2. Creative people always think outside the box; most new ideas and concepts come from them.
3. The role of leader belongs to charismatic people who know how to assemble a team, distribute roles and set tasks. They motivate others and control the results of work.
The most common role is performers. There are most of such people on the labor market. This does not mean that this is a bad role. Their work is valued quite highly. The knowledge and experience of a specialist must correspond to the place occupied in the team.
But a real leader is not so easy to find. Such a person must direct the activities of the team, but not appropriate its merits.
When working in a work collective, you need to adhere to certain rules. Neutrality should be the basis of behavior.
Sometimes it is difficult to observe it when communicating with different people on a daily basis, but you cannot divide them into good and bad. Participation in the spread of gossip guarantees that in the future you will become one of the parties to a conflict. This should be avoided.
It is advisable for a new employee to initially refrain from making statements about anyone in the presence of colleagues.
A great solution would be to listen more and monitor the behavior and communication principles of those who have been on the team for a long time.
Knowing how to say "no" will be very helpful in situations where you are asked to do something that is not part of your direct responsibilities. In this case, showing kindness will only harm your own work.
Giving various kinds of advice and recommendations should only be done at the request of others, since any initiative shown is perceived negatively.
A conflict that breaks out between employees can manifest itself in the form of direct or hidden aggression.
At such moments, work productivity is greatly reduced. A problematic team member disrupts the overall working atmosphere and ignores all the rules and principles in the team. This must be dealt with.
As a rule, a serious conversation about the rules of conduct during working hours helps. Usually the leader assumes such authority.
From a psychological point of view, almost any team can be made cohesive. A full-time psychologist or a good manager can do this by pursuing the following goals:
- formation of a sense of one whole;
- implementation of methods for productive interaction and distribution of priorities;
- psychological release of employees;
- strengthening authority and respect for the leader;
Such teambuilding events take place in a relaxed atmosphere. The specifics of the event are chosen depending on the needs and nuances of the team.
Teamwork is not an easy task. Good and well-coordinated work teams can be the result of many years of work by their leaders.
Once in a favorable environment, a newcomer has every chance to become a full member among the rest of the workers. But if an aggressive atmosphere prevails, then it is better not to stay in such a place, experiencing constant stress is unacceptable.
Earlier I talked about how to overcome laziness and stay motivated.
