The Internet is littered with stories about how banks abroad refuse to accept old-style dollars, that is, “white” ones, from tourists.
In Belarus, there are no problems with accepting “white” dollars.
This was reported by the publication “Minskaya Pravda” .
As part of an experiment, Minskaya Pravda journalists visited three dozen exchange offices in Minsk.
Dollars were everywhere, and different ones. At the same time, several exchange offices had only "white" dollars.
One of the exchange offices told the publication that Russian citizens exchange a lot of dollars, while Belarusians mostly operate with euros.
That is, all our banks accept both “white” and “blue” dollars, states Minska Pravda.
It is noted that journalists did not encounter discrimination based on the color of dollars in any of the exchange offices.
That is, banks did not charge any commission fees for accepting old-style dollars.
With a commission, some banks were willing to purchase only banknotes of “inadequate quality,” the article specifies.
Thus, the publication concludes, the advice to buy only “blue” dollars makes no sense.
Because Belarusians, even without advice, mostly buy euros, notes Minska Pravda.
