There are 5 types of interaction between an employee and a manager.
The boss's job is to determine what "level" he is on and raise the level of relationships.
The steps are defined as follows.
In the worst case, there is personal hostility between the boss and the subordinate. In this case, both the boss and the employee are more often busy with their own confrontation, rather than working effectively.
There is neither hostility nor mutual support. The employee is not very warm about his own duties, the manager does not try to influence this in any way.
The subordinate relies on corporate standards in his work, but does not show serious initiative when necessary.
The employee does not simply implement the standards, but participates in their development. He offers ideas and supports both other team members and the manager.
At the highest level of relationships, the team's shared values and aspirations rule. For example, if every employee sincerely shares the principle that "the customer is always right," you will not hear complaints about rude managers from angry customers.
There are not many methods for moving to new levels. You can motivate employees to move to the next level through management influence or training, as well as optimize the distribution of tasks taking into account the strengths of a particular employee. An alternative option is to transfer the employee to another position or replace him completely.
Earlier I talked about how to earn the respect of your employees.
